A day in the life

Let's get to know our team a bit more, and what it’s like to work at Oxford Heartbeat.

Katia Mandaltsi, PhD
Head of Strategy and Clinical Partnerships

What is your role at Oxford Heartbeat? How long have you been at the company?

I’m Katia, my role is Head of Strategy and Clinical Partnerships and I’ve been at Oxford Heartbeat since November 2020.

Walk us through a typical day for you at Oxford Heartbeat

It's difficult to say what a typical day looks like for my role, as it can vary depending on our team’s priorities and what’s happening at the time. Generally, I run meetings with our team to discuss ongoing projects, our progress, as well as the big-picture strategy for our business. I also talk with our clinical and industry network, to discuss current and future opportunities for collaborations. I also have had the opportunity to attend conferences, workshops, visit hospitals and see how PreSize® is used in practice, which is always very interesting! As far as my desk job is concerned, I spend a fair amount of time keeping up with industry trends and keeping our network up to date with the latest news about Oxford Heartbeat.

I chose to work at Oxford Heartbeat because…

I've known Katerina for many years. We did our PhDs together at Oxford, and I was really impressed with the way she started and developed PreSize® and Oxford Heartbeat. As the team entered a new chapter with our certifications and our trial, I was very excited to contribute to the growth and success of the company and of the product using my background. I have a technical biomedical engineering background, but also commercial experience in marketing strategy. I was very enthusiastic to work with a product and a team that really can make a difference in clinical practice and people's lives.

What excites you about the future of Oxford Heartbeat?

I love seeing more and more users of PreSize®, and seeing how it can help their practice every day. I can't wait to see the ever-increasing reach of the software making a true difference in clinical practice and patient care. We have so many ideas about where PreSize® can go and what Oxford Heartbeat can be in the future. I can't wait for everyone to see it!

A fun fact about me is…

While I was an undergraduate, I was an extra in a Bollywood film that was being filmed on my college campus at the time. This is my sole film credit and the start (and end) of my film career!
